Walking through this multi-level layout you&#8217;re enclosed by a concrete terrace which serves as one of the\u00a0main focal points of the centre. Although the\u00a0estate was built between 1965 and 1976 on a site that was previously bombed during World War 2, it&#8217;s now viewed as one of the most exclusive\u00a0residential areas in London.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5256\" src=\"http:\/\/www.antondee.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/london-barbican-brutalist-photowalk-ipad-photography-18.jpg\" alt=\"london barbican brutalist photowalk ipad photography-18\" width=\"681\" height=\"383\" srcset=\"https:\/\/antondee.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/london-barbican-brutalist-photowalk-ipad-photography-18.jpg 681w, https:\/\/antondee.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/london-barbican-brutalist-photowalk-ipad-photography-18-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/antondee.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/london-barbican-brutalist-photowalk-ipad-photography-18-640x360.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 681px) 100vw, 681px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Brutalism\u00a0was once described by Queen Elizabeth as &#8220;one of the modern wonders of the world&#8221; and although I don&#8217;t entirely agree with the statement there is something truly unique about the style. Although difficult to explore fully in a single visit, the Barbican Centre is a must for any lovers of architecture and design out there.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-2' class='gallery galleryid-5251
