Trafalgar Square actually holds a huge significance in my life as it was here around 13 years ago that I got my first taste\u00a0of\u00a0London\u00a0as I climbed on top of one of the bronze lions that adorn\u00a0<strong>Nelson&#8217;s Column<\/strong>. A little fun fact about the lions is that they were actually\u00a0melted down from the cannons aboard French and Spanish ships that had taken part in the <strong>Battle of \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col\">\n<p><strong>National Gallery<\/strong> and the adjoining <strong>National Portrait Gallery<\/strong>\u00a0were\u00a0opened to the\u00a0public on <strong>10 May 1824<\/strong> and since then it&#8217;s undergone a number of cosmetic and architectural changes, most notably the work on renovating the Parthenon-esque front of the gallery.<\/p>\n<p>Although we know the structure as it stands today, at the time it received\u00a0public criticism\u00a0before it was\u00a0even completed, as an early version of the design had been leaked to a \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>The entire National Gallery is a living exhibit as you feel like you&#8217;re walking through the\u00a0history of art, starting with early Christian fresco&#8217;s and finishing with some postmodern art of the 20th century. The entire gallery\u00a0is a mathematicians paradise with perfect angles and symmetrical shapes adorning the place\u00a0and\u00a04 huge glass domes\u00a0letting in natural light from the outside.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6250 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.antondee.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/london-explore-national-portrait-gallery-trafalgar-square-20.jpg\" alt=\"audrey hepburn exhibition london national portrait gallery\" width=\"681\" height=\"383\" srcset=\"https:\/\/antondee.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/london-explore-national-portrait-gallery-trafalgar-square-20.jpg 681w, https:\/\/antondee.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/london-explore-national-portrait-gallery-trafalgar-square-20-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/antondee.com\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/london-explore-national-portrait-gallery-trafalgar-square-20-640x360.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 681px) 100vw, 681px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The National Portrait Gallery was also a welcome surprise as I&#8217;ve just started getting into people photography and it helped me realise the importance of feeling relaxed when taking as well as posing for\u00a0photos. As a photographer it gives you much more flexibility\u00a0if your subject is relaxed and comfortable being around you.<\/p>\n<p>The 3D printed model of Tim Berners-Lee (best known as the inventor of the World Wide Web) got me giddy as without him it would be impossible for this technology to exist in the first place. Although still in it&#8217;s infancy 3D printing has the potential to seriously disrupt a number of global industries. If you&#8217;re interest in these kinds of things check out my latest <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.antondee.com\/archive\/vr-in-a-bar-future-technology-roundup-03\">TECH ROUNDUP<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The<strong> Audrey Hepburn Exhibition\u00a0<\/strong>was an interesting one as it\u00a0showed the snowballing nature of success and just how different the media landscape was in the 50s. Although looks didn&#8217;t hold her back, it was Audrey Hepburn&#8217;s charm that won over many writers and producers who wanted to work with her despite the obvious lack of experience. Images of Audrey were of course a must, a young David Bowie as well as some close ups that caught my eye. No room would be complete without a <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/readcereal.com\/\">CEREAL Mag<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(this one focused on New York) and the latest <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.antondee.com\/archive\/farfetch-curates-design-coffee-table-book\">Farfetch Curates<\/a><\/strong> coffee table book in which the focus was\u00a0on all things design in
