One of the finest examples of brutalist architecture can be found by visiting the Barbican Estate in central London. Le Corbusier who is considered the Godfather of Brutalism constructed\u00a0a lot of his buildings in the south of France for this exact reason. In the UK however brutalism started to become synonymous with urban decay because\u00a0maintenance of housing estates was\u00a0way down everyones list of priorities.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-2' \/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not all doom and gloom though as\u00a0for me the Barbican is one of the more interesting places London has to offer. As you&#8217;re enveloped by the brutal\u00a0architecture, the complex takes on a life of its own. It was quite a surreal sight considering the location but <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.barbican.org.uk\/2016\/08\/on-second-movement\/\">an interview<\/a> with one of the women summarised the piece\u00a0with\u00a0this amazing quote:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Sexual orientation, politics, social status, race, none of that mattered.\u00a0We just kissed.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div Maybe I just like the word &#8216;brutal&#8217; or maybe I like simplicity.
