Set in one of Leeds’ most prominent and historic locations, Lambert’s Yard is taking the steps to become the city’s retail and leisure destination for the design and fashion conscious. Built in around 1600, Lambert’s House is the last surviving triple decker house in Leeds city centre and for someone who loves architecture it remains one of the city’s most beautiful and iconic buildings.

Lambert’s Yard takes advantage of it’s heritage by keeping the rustic aesthetic of the construction and courtyards outside and introducing it’s own homely charm. The concept store has high ambitions and wants to provide a space for established as well as emerging designers to showcase their work whether their spectrum is fashion, art or simple homeware.

Lambert’s Yard have a great investment in local talent and some of their work is on showcase and available to purchase already. It’s fantastic to see so much creativity bursting out of Yorkshire and to have a space like this to unveil their work. The future vision for Lambert’s Yard is to create a retail and leisure destination where customers can spend an afternoon exploring and shopping or being pampered and entertained.

Work is already under way in every single corner of the space with 2 self-contained retail units already completed, add onto that the rustic courtyard, a new restaurant and a pop up space on the floor above and the ‘lifestyle destination’ idea starts to make sense.

When you go upstairs a little surprise awaits – an inspiring exhibition of style and fashion photography curated by Cheryl Newman who is the photography director of the Telegraph Magazine. As you wonder by the monotonous shops on the high street it’s refreshing to see Lambert’s Yard try something different and it really does enhance the overall experience.

As a place where emerging artists can flourish and showcase their talents whilst established designers can wow us with their unique ideas, I can think of no better place in Leeds right now than Lambert’s Yard to pull it all together. Cheryl’s exhibition is only gonna be around for a couple more weeks so if you’re in the area I urge everyone to stop by and see this charming little shop.
