Jacamo Quilted Coat & Hard Graft Premium Bags // Lookbook 5

Lookbooks seem to be a little bit like buses, that is I waited months to put my first one together and ended up doing 3 all in the space of a week. For me small details matter as much (if not more) than the large ones, for example I can buy a new pair of shoes or jeans in a matter of minutes but any sock or watch purchase has to be carefully researched.

For this weeks lookbook I again worked with Hard Graft and Jacamo to put together a varied little winters outfit. Jacamo are currently in the midst of a rebrand and as part of this, they aim to cater for men of many styles and sizes - not just the tall and well-built which was the case until very recently.

The Quilted Coat from Jacamo was a fine addition to my winter wardrobe, from the outside it looks like a classic Barbour jacket with it's own detachable fleece collar. The collar is very rigid and preferred to have it up as an additional line of defence against the frosty winds we're currently experiencing in London.  This classic piece also has two chest pockets and two large side pockets that really add to it's country heritage feel. In comes in sizes M-5XL although I found it to be a little on the large side (I'm wearing M in the pictures) so I would advise to order 1 size below what you normally wear.

I again completed my look with some Marshall Monitor headphones and a Hard Graft premium Italian leather satchel as these items and I are becoming inseparable which if anything is a testament to their quality and durability. I have already mentioned them in my previous Qantas Lookbook but make sure you check Style Division in the coming weeks when I'll be posting a more in-depth review as well as a little surprise lookbook with Herschel Supply Co.

Style Division Inspiration Collection 01 – 2014 Overview

So 2014 was an interesting year to say the least. I finally got the motivation to develop Style Division from a visual blog (which you can still access here) to what it is today. I also made the big move to London which was a relatively scary prospect but it has been paying off dividends in my personal and professional life. Now that I've had time to recover from my Christmas travels and New Year shenanigans I sat down and really thought where I want Style Division to go in 2015 and beyond.

Style Division has now been operating as a fully-fledged blog for over a year and it has given me unrepeatable memories, experiences and friends for which I want to thank all you readers and part-time visitors. I've had the opportunity to attend fashion shows, undertake backstage photography, collate lookbooks and go to private events with excessive amounts of champagne yet it feels like I've only scratched the surface. Style Division has always been a personal hobby and I’m solely responsible for its operation so rest assured any articles or products that make an appearance on here get my seal of approval. Although saying that menswear and fashion are just some of the topics that interest me so moving forward I want to write about other areas and hopefully make it interesting in the process.

2014-06-02_1401729010 2014-05-16_14002654582014-06-09_1402339318 2014-07-24_14062308972014-11-21_1416559280 2014-12-03_1417612032

I’ve always been interested in photography, to a point of constructing a makeshift darkroom in my basement and developing film the old fashioned way during one of my years at university. This year I've started experimenting with mobile photography and utilising apps like Instagram and VSCOCam  to really showcase my photos. Back in September I also purchased a Fuji XE-1 digital camera which has given me a new headache because of it's steep learning curve that I'm slowly getting to grips with; hopefully my photography game improves as the year goes on.

The second area I want to focus on in 2015 is technology / futurology which is something I've been interested in ever since I was a teenager. Ray Kurzweil's book 'The Singularity Is Near' sparked my interest in the future, the impact of technology on our world and how computers through AI and machine learning will improve our lives in ways we cannot imagine. I started a small Tumblr blog (Futurology Division) to post any interesting material I came across and through general curiosity found out more about the internet of things, virtual reality and cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.

The technology section will be an area for me to let my geeky side out although there will still be relevance to fashion and menswear with an explosion of wearable technology poised to happen over the next 2/3 years. We have already seen things like 3D printed dresses and Google Glass but these are mere teasers in terms of whats to come and I cannot wait to tell you guys about it.

The 4 Collections

I've made attempts at visual collections in the past with little Photography, Retro Photogaphy and Visual Inspiration posts but I want to make them a more regular feature. I've become a bit of a digital hoarder recently, what I mean by that is anytime I see something I wish to write about in the future I add it to my list in Pocket or Evernote. These lists have grown considerably large and the time at my disposal has all but disappeared.

To ensure I still cover everything that tickles my fancy I will be putting together 4 regular inspiration collections (hopefully) every month that concentrate on:

1 - Style Division Menswear Roundup

The menswear roundup will include latest mens style images, lookbooks, street styles, moodboards, news or products. The Style Division menswear roundup will also include updates about Style Division such as some of my latests looks, London events or guest posts.

2 - Photography / Visual Inspiration Collection

A collection of photos and photographers that have a really unique vision for their craft. I use these for my own inspiration so the styles may be all over the place at first but if you feel your work is good enough to get featured just send me an email on anton@thestyledivision.com

Art & design visuals will also be added to the collection although it's not limited to just these two categories. Lifestyle, architecture and other images I find appealing are sure to make an appearance.

3 – Technology / Futurology Collection

Time to let out my geeky side and cover a number of topics you don’t usually see covered in a blog. If the sound of machine learning, virtual reality, wearables, cryptocurrencies or space exploration tickle you fancy this collection is for you.  As mentioned above the future tech section will develop slowly, most of the emphasis will be on wearables but it's still good practice to write about your interests.

4 - Music Playlists

My obsession with music has grown considerably over the last year although my tastes have solidified around a handful of genres and bands I want you to know more about. Because of the nature of the music I listen to numerous tracks cannot be found on Spotify or Soundcloud so I've been forced to rely on YouTube links which isn't ideal although over the course of the year I hope to stick with just one platform.

Please leave me a comment below or tweet me @StyleDivision with the platform that you prefer.

2014 Guest Posts

From time to time I get asked to write guest posts on other sites and blogs, here are some of my favourites from last year.

Here are some of my favourite pictures from last year. After the Edward Snowden revelations I decided to delete my Facebook and use Twitter / Instagram to digitise my life. Although I lost a number of photos and long distance friends getting rid of Facebook has really freed up my time and allowed me to enjoy the little moments without constantly checking my phone.

Tailor4Less Custom Blazer & Davidoff Travel Bag // Lookbook 4

Ever since I got into the blogging game I've been dying to get myself a stylish looking blazer. Sure, places on the high street like Zara and Topman provide their own varieties and styles but I feel they're just a little bit too generic. The 'cookie cutter’ designs may fetch an affordable price but as with many things in life sometimes it’s better to pay extra than living with a shoddy product.

Up steps Tailor4Less, an online shopping destination where business men and stylish guys alike can custom build their own tailored suit. Their catalogue boasts over 150 fabrics, unique blazer designs and custom features that make for an infinite number of combinations. The entire customisation process is done online and was very easy to follow. You begin by filling out a profile with your personal measurements, everything from neck size to shoulder width is required to ensure Tailor4Less create a suit that hugs your body perfectly.

If you know what style of blazer you already prefer the entire process should not take more than a few minutes although I would advise you to play around with fabric and style combinations as it took me several attempts to create one I was 100%  happy with. If you’ve never bought a suit before the websites guides you through the entire process with instructional videos to help you measure up as well as information about fits and fabrics to ensure you choose the perfect suit.

For my single breasted blazer I went with the dark navy ‘Upper Side’ 100% merino wool fabric and plain silk lining. A asked for additional elbow patches, custom buttons and seeing as monogrammed initials were on the house I included the 'Style Division' name as well just to really make it mine.

Overall I really enjoyed the Tailor4Less experience, I couldn't be happier with my suit, oh and did I mentioned the free shipping? If you're nervous about your measurements I would advise going to a local tailor first just to be sure and it might save you the additional trip once your suit actually arrives.

Complete the Look - Davidoff Destination Collection

davidoff business bagdavidoff business satchel for men 2015 davidoff business satchel for men 2015

To complete my look I decided on a Davidoff business bag from their latest 'Destination' Collection. The entire collection was designed and hand-made in Milan (to me, the unofficial fashion capital of the world) and that quality is really telling. The leather is 100% natural grain as no sanding processes are applied to its surface. This method is used across the entire range of bags and high quality of leather makes it impossibly soft to touch and almost gleaming in the right light.

The bag has several cleverly designed compartments, from the zipped external pocket that will fit a tablet and some papers, to the two bigger compartments with a laptop sleeve and additional pockets. The business bag was also built with custom metal piping which is designed to delineate the lines of the bag and look like the some old fashioned trunks and buckles. It also makes the whole bag sturdier and perfect for long distance travel, a perfect alternative to the long forgotten briefcase.

Complete the Look - Ties from Ties R Us

No suit is complete without a tie and although I'm a bow tie man sometimes you have to rock the classics. Ties R Us had me covered by giving me a large selection of ties to choose from. In all honesty it was a little hard to decide purely because of the number of options on offer such as skinny ties, textured and plain ties.

Since I was going for simplicity, an Agent 47 style plain burgundy satin tie (and the same one in peach) did the trick and really tied the outfit together. The ties themselves were really easy to put on, the satin also gave them a really smooth feel and matched perfectly with the fabric of my custom made blazer.

Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier // Lookbook 3

When Qantas Airways offered me the chance to put together a look for one of their flights to Australia I literally jumped at the chance. There aren't many opportunities (especially in the current London weather) that allow me dress up fairy light and summery so I started digging through ASOS and my own wardrobe to see what goodies I could find that fit the theme.

My first thought turned to the weather and seeing as I don't deal well with either extreme a light shirt, jacket and trousers were the primary essentials. To add to the look I brought my trusted wooly bob hat (it can get nippy on planes), Nike sports watch, Raybans and a bag full of goodies which I will come onto later.

The location was the gorgeous and historical Gilbert Scott bar and brasserie situated in London, St Pancras. I thought the location had a nice theme to it as St Pancras is a name that for me is synonymous with adventure and wanderlust and seemed perfect for the outfit I wanted to put together.

#2 - The Bag

If you're going on a trip the last thing you want is something cumbersome to lug around which makes this work satchel from Hard Graft the perfect companion. The satchel is made from premium vegetable tanned Italian leather and is hand stitched to withstand the knocks of the road.  Each Hard Graft bag is hand-stained hide by hide and has its own special touch and is unique in tone and texture that ages over time.

The inside of the bag is nice and spacious with plenty of room to store my laptop, camera, magazines and notebooks. The inside is also padded with 100% wool felt which apart from being amazing to touch ensures your belongings don't slide about and get scratched whilst you travel.

#3 - The Location

The Gilbert Scott | Cocktail Bar and Restaurant in London

Now onto the famous St Pancras itself. It's slowly becoming one of my favourite places in London and not simply because of the trolley from Harry Potter. Go to any arrivals area and you'll be overcome by happiness as the whole place is buzzing with old friends and relatives who are overcome with emotion.

If you explore St Pancras you can discover a number of unique areas that will surprise and inspire you, I spent the day at The Gilbert Scott bar and brasserie which boasts it's own historic architecture, live musicians and the Spice Girls staircase I mentioned above. The interiors were mostly gorgeous open rooms with tall ceilings and hints of Eastern European designs. It's atmosphere was also incredibly peaceful with smooth jazz playing on the speakers and complementary bacon popcorn which blew my mind to say the least.

Make sure to check out Style Division in the coming weeks when I'll be doing a more in depth write-up on Kings Cross and St Pancras, their history and recent developments.

Casely Hayford London Collections Men Autumn Winter 2015

Casely Hayford are a London based father (Joe) and son (Charlie) design duo that started in 2009 with a vision of creating unique London style pieces for an international audience. Their looks fuse sportswear with tailoring and high art with street culture and technology. Having both studied at St. Martins, Joe is the former Creative Director of Gieves & Hawkes while Charlie apprenticed under his father whilst styling musicians from British band The xx to hip hop artists such as Nas.

After the Duchamp LCM show I met up with my friend Kristina at the Old Sorting Office on New Oxford Street for Casely Hayfords' much anticipated Autumn / Winter 2015 runway show. The place was buzzing for the 'Runaways' collection which was supposed to draw inspiration from a group of runaways looking for a new way of life outside the narrow confines of modern city life.

The show itself was very fast paced with drum & bass and hip hop instrumentals blaring over the sound system, I even suggested the DJ host a rave night in the future because the music selection was pretty impeccable. What really stood out for me in the collection is the versatility of layers that were on display. Where to order Viagra, here https://www.rmhc-richmond.org/buy-viagra-100/ cheapest Sildenafil no prescription. The contrasting futurist techno prints of fleece sweats converge with the geometric lines of deconstructed puffas, which are presented as the new leather and nylon “Deflated Down” Jackets.

This season Casely-Hayford presents three unique collaborations – developing footwear, eyewear as well as moving into the wearable tech arena which is an area I'm really interested in so watch out for some more write-ups in the future covering wearable tech.

London Collections: Men – Duchamp A/W 2015 Menswear Collection

Between the 9th and 12th of January the capital played host to London Collections: Men which is now in its 4th year of operation. London Collections Men (or LCM for short) emphasises both the creative and commercial importance of British brands and other emerging talent. The events at LCM are designed to showcase a wide variety of designers and the growing cultural landscape that contributes to the inspiration and success of the ever growing fashion industry.

The number of passionate individuals behind many of the UKs biggest blogs and brands were present and their love for fashion and design was infectious and in some ways highly motivational from a personal point of view. The LCM 2015 was an experience and a little glimpse into the fashion world I have heard so much about, now we just need to see what London Fashion Week 2015 has in store for us.

One of the brands I was really keen on learning more about was Duchamp who I have covered in the past in the Duchamps 'The Artist' and 'The Jetsetting Rogue' posts. At LCM Duchamp showed off the continued evolution of their collection and I have to say I’m loving the direction the Autumn / Winter 2015 pieces are heading. With the emphasis on colour and fabric innovation the eveningwear blazers came in numerous different varieties such as hounds tooth and block coloured wool and cashmere in camel, sea blue, forest green and monochrome.

For those who don't know, Duchamp traces its origins to a accidental discovery by its founder of a cache of 10,000 vintage cufflinks on a trip to a Paris flea market, inspiring him to create his own luxury men’s accessories in his native London. Following on from this theme, the dinner jackets are exclusively printed on luxury 50-ounce English silk to really bring out the texture and my word are they nice to touch, both inside and outside.

The new LCM collection was held in the Scarfes Bar at the stunning Rosewood Hotel in Holburn which in itself was an experience. The room was filled with old friends and familiar faces who have all dedicated their Sunday evening to their passions. Bloggers such as David Evans (Grey Fox), Toni Tran (Fashitects), Nathan Lewis (Man Meets Fashion), Henri (Infashionity) and Jaime (Boy Meets Fashion) were all as charming as I imagined and took the time to chat to the ‘new kid on the block’ and even give me some substantial tips and tricks of the trade.

After meeting several of my counterparts I felt severely underdressed as I opted to go for the simple but classic dark blazer and tie combination with very few stand out details (a full writeup on the outfit will be published this week so make sure you keep an eye out). I was too busy to care though as I was overwhelmed by the live music which really added to the atmosphere of a Hollywood party in the 60s and intricate entrees that wouldn’t look out of place at an ambassadors ball.

Overall I had a fantastic experience at the Duchamp London Collections, the outfits were very outlandish yet classic as they stuck to tried and tested fabric principles with wool and cashmere. Meeting David from Grey Fox was also a personal highlight as he has served as a personal inspiration for a number of years and boy can that man rock a tweed jacket. Make sure you keep reading Style Division for more London Collections: Men write-ups and hopefully our paths will cross at LCM 2016!

Burton Shower Resistant Trench Coat // Lookbook 2

Following on from my last post about the street art tour of Shoreditch I thought another little lookbook should be on the agenda. During the tour I had the chance to snap a few photos of my Burton Shower Resistant Mac and the graffiti made for a perfect modern backdrop.

The mac itself is very lightweight and lined with a fine dogtooth patterned fabric which makes it perfect for those all too regular windy and drizzly London days. The design of the trench coat is very www.noc2healthcare.com/cialis/ sleek and minimal so I didn't want to go overboard with the accessories but only something that will amplify the look.

I decided to go for a wool scarf with a green/red plaid pattern as it wasn't too big and ostentatious. The scarf I'm wearing in he picture was made for me by a close friend but you can get a similar one for yourself from ASOS or River Island.

Seven Dials Street Style // Photography Journal 4

Earlier this week I had the chance to meet an old family friend for a drink and a chinwag in Seven Dials so what better opportunity to explore a little area of London I've yet to set foot in. With it being Christmas week the crowd was out in full swing, undeterred by the dull weather or the fact that most of them had to be at work right that minute doing some annual reports *yawn*.

Seven Dials is famous for it's central sundial which radiates out to seven streets of Covent Garden such as Monmouth Street, Earlham Street and Mercer Street. The sundial is actually a replica of the original 17th century monument and was only re-installed 25 years ago in 1989. Originally the sundial was removed because it attracted undesirables to the area and scuppering the plans of creating an affluent, upper class area. These plans went out the window with shops starting to sell second and third hand goods on a regular basis and it was not uncommon to find things like pigeons, owls and rare animals on display in Seven Dials.

You'll be glad to know that the days of 17th century chavs have long gone to be replaced by fashionable shops, cafes and theatres. Although it's not the biggest place I did enjoy having a stroll through the narrow streets checking out the architecture and areas of Seven Dials most people probably do not see like the Ching Court that contains some of the most striking architecture I've seen so far in central London. This open air courtyard is the perfect place to escape the chaos of city life, read a book or just meditate for 15 minutes. If you fancy a visit Ching Court is open to the public between 8 - 6pm from Monday - Friday.

Seven Dials Street Style

Since I had my camera with me I thought I'd see where the mood takes me and indulge in a little street fashion photography as I heard great things about fashion in Seven Dials. There wasn't a huge variety on offer considering the time and date I decided to arrive but most of the people I chatted with were nice and friendly and were comfortable with me snapping a few shots. Like the actual special child that I am I totally forgot to use RAW settings so the images perhaps didn't turn out perfectly but hey, photography is mostly trial and error so I'm glad I took the first albeit baby steps.

Did not ask what they were wearing but I love the fox tail scarf on the left as it goes with the history of Seven Dials when shops used to have all kinds of exotic animals on their displays (read above)
