King’s Cross St Pancras, London // Photography Journal 33

Before my unexpected move to Shoreditch in the summer I was a happy resident of Camden. I wrote about my fascination with this neighbourhood in some of my past posts such as the one on architecture and street art although one things I didn't mention was my close proximity to the one and only King's Cross.

Living within walking distance to this magical place was a godsend as you sometimes forget that people from all over the world come here on their holidays so it was a great reminder not to take beautiful things for granted.

King's Cross has a certain kind of buzz about it. People from all walks of life spider out from it's many entrances and whichever direction they choose, they're bound to stumble upon something magical. St Pancras is a true marvel of British architecture while the walk towards Central Saint Martins is littered with small art projects that are sure to inspire.

St. Pancras Renaissance London Hotel

Forming the frontispiece of St Pancras railway station is the majestic St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel. It first opened in 2011, but occupies much of the former Midland Grand Hotel designed by George Gilbert Scott which opened in 1873 and closed in 1935. If you're a regular reader of Style Division you may remember a little lookbook that I did inside the hotel around this time last year and my love for the building has not died down.

I spent a few hours exploring the area and even put together a little video as there's nothing better than having a few hours to kill and doing a spot of people watching. I keep coming back to this word 'sonder' which is a word that describes the realisation that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own. Let that sink in for a second.

Kings Cross Street Style

It wouldn't be a Style Division post without a spot of street style although I only managed to capture a few photos that are worth sharing but with street photography a lot of it is about luck and it seems Kings Cross isn't the most stylish place in the capital 🙂

Shore Projects Watch // Lookbook 26

I have a soft spot for a nice watch, for guys it's an acceptable form of jewellery that comes in such a vast variety of styles, colours and sizes that there has to be a perfect piece out there for everyone. This week I'm showcasing my new Shore Projects watch with interchangeable straps and after careful browsing I decided on the Salcombe Rose Gold style and a dark brown leather strap.

[separator type="thin"]

[columns_row width="half"]
[column]

Shooting with another Style Division favourite - Joey London - we spent some time exploring Brick Lane and the watch was a perfect accompaniment to my winter ready outfit. The watches are made with stainless steel cases and have crystal sapphire glass, while the leather on the straps is of the finest quality sourced from Italy.

Shore Projects is inspired by the beauty and fun of the British seaside and having owned the watch for a few weeks now I've had no issues with it's build or simplicity. Because of the style I chose it goes perfectly with any outfit whether it's smart or casual and I'm looking forward to ordering some more straps should I wish to change things up a bit.

Canary Wharf, London // Photography Journal 32

There's really no excuse for slacking although like most of us mere mortals I too have long bouts of procrastination and end up sitting on gigabytes of unfinished photos and projects. I also tend to jump from one idea to another so my bedroom looks like something out of 'A Beautiful Mind' with notes and sketches scattered around on the floor and sometimes stuck to the ceiling.

Today I want to share with you my little excursion around London's business hub - Canary Wharf with an old Style Division favourite Themba Overdaux.

[separator type="thin"]

[separator type="thin"]

[columns_row width="half"]
[column]

From 1802 to 1939, the area was one of the busiest docks in the world and although times have changed and businesses have evolved, the old economic laws of demand and supply still rule the land. Tall and grandiose architecture has always resided beside power and money and as a show of pure wealth and status, skyscrapers and other large structures have begun to dominate the London skyline.

When Kings and Queens ruled the land it was obvious where the power was centered - the castles and to some extent churches that were under the monarch's control. These were usually the tallest structures for their time, built with stone and marble while today glass and a focus on sustainability gives designers and architects a whole new set of challenges.

Something that I never got to share with you guys has been my complete obsession with Cereal Mag (above), a style and travel magazine with gorgeous, crisp photography and a book that's an absolute pleasure to flick through. I picked up one of their healthblog247.com/using-viagra-online/ recent guides to New York and I feel like I already know where my next travel destination is going to be.

The Foster + Partners roof garden was a fun little surprise to stumble upon and made for a nice change of scenery from the intricate maze of tall, homogenous skyscrapers.

The garden and it's luscious plants are a reference to the area's maritime heritage so if you're planning a visit make sure to stop by.

I love this series of photos as they have a very dystopian and somewhat ominous vibe about them yet the colour palette keeps me coming back and making endless edits. These snaps probably showcase Canary Wharf in its natural light and even though it's home to some of the tallest buildings in Europe the plain rectangular designs leave my inner architect somewhat disappointed.

You can tell a lot of thought went into buildings such as The Shard or The Gherkin as their positioning right in the centre of the capital meant corners couldn't be cut as easily and designs really had to be on point. With Canary Wharf a lot of the buildings feel like copy/paste versions of each other and yet as a group they form a truly unique piece of London.

Here's something I've been sitting on for way too long - my shoot with New Look Men back in the summer (check out that clean shaven face!) alongside Ben from Twenty First Century Gent and Adam from Male Stylist (aka the original Style Collective). The shoot was organised by Jodie from alajode and the pics were taken by the supremely talented Sarah Choa 🙂

I opted for a light Grey Herringbone Slub Blazer which is a simple two button blazer that's easy to style, goes with a simple white shirt and some skinny trousers. I opted for the plaid pattern because life's too short to wear boring colours.

Brighton, England // Photography Journal 31

To say the life of a blogger is a busy one would be an understatement. Although this busy life is one of our own making sometimes it gets a little tough juggling professional and social lives on top of your other commitments. Buy generic Viagra from http://www.bantuhealth.org/viagra-buy/ reliable website. Although Brighton is only a train ride away I don't visit this magical place often enough so when the chance came I jumped at the opportunity to get some sea breeze and reset the old noggin:

[separator type="thin"]

[separator type="thin"]

Famous for it's vivacious nightlife, quaint atmosphere and a seaside that's as good as we're gonna get in England, Brighton claims a unique charm that's hard to find and even harder to replicate. As a lover of architecture the diversity of buildings in Brighton continues to surprise. The area's settlements first developed as fishing villages which means you get to see buildings and materials rarely seen elsewhere.

Elaborate doorcases and porticos with Classical-style details are seen on many 19th-century houses, especially those built in the Regency era although special mention must be given to the Royal Pavilion which dominates the view with it's domes and minarets.

The Pavilion is built in the Indo-Saracenic style prevalent in India for most of the 19th century. It's the brainchild of architect John Nash, who extended the building starting in 1815 and is a prime example of exoticism that was an alternative to the classic Regency style that dominated the UK architecture scene during the period in the early 19th century when George IV was Prince Regent.

Flexing the old creative muscle it would be a shame if I didn't grab a few street style shots during the fleeting visit to the beach. Wearing my trusty trench from Zara and a Hard Graft bag to hand this rainy, windy day wasn't going to stop the proceedings.

Shoreditch With Bailey Nelson London // Lookbook 24

I received a lot of attention after my previous OOTD post went live so I decided to add to it with some additional images Joey London and I shot on location in Shoreditch. Just a stones throw away from Princelet Street is Christ Church Spitalfields, an Anglican church built between 1714 and 1729 to a design by Nicholas Hawksmoor. It's one of the first buildings in London I hold close to my heart for personal reasons so I decided to give it a feature:

[separator type="thin"]

[columns_row width="half"]

[column]

Christ Church Spitalfields

An Act of Parliament in 1711 established the Commission for Building Fifty New Churches to serve London's new settlements and Christ Church Spitalfields was the first to be built.

The Commissioners for the new churches included Christopher Wren (the architect behind the famous St Pauls Cathedral), Thomas Archer and John Vanbrugh appointed two surveyors, one of whom was Nicholas Hawksmoor. Generic priligy best price at http://howmed.net/priligy-dapoxetine/ guaranteed. Only twelve of the planned fifty churches were built, of which six were designed by Hawksmoor.

Still wearing my perfectly fitting specs from Bailey Nelson, Joey and I decided to jump around and let loose our inner teenagers while capturing the moment with the aforementioned Sigma lens.

Having owned the glasses for over a month now I can safely say that they have not let me down, or left my side for that matter.

It's actually quite rare to find a durable pair that you can safely rely on day in, day out. Make sure to check out their latest designs and see if any tickle your fancy

LCM 16 Day 2 – London Collections Men Street Style // Photography Journal 30

I can't believe that it's been over a week since LCM (London Collections: Men) has finished and I'm only just starting to sift through the photos. Day 2 for me was much busier as I decided to do street style on Day 1 and visit a few shows on Day 2 but alas it's impossible to ignore the amazing outfits everyone had on display. Have a look through some of my favourite photos and let me know what you think in the comment box below:

Bailey Nelson London // Lookbook 23

Happy 2016 everyone! January in London means the start of fashion season so in-between my work with UnsignedGRP and running around LCM taking street style shots for Fucking Young Mag, I managed to take some OOTD shots with my boy Joey London using his new camera. I gotta say the Sigma lens is a work of art, perfect for action snaps and the quality of the images is simply pristine. Watch this space 🙂

[separator type="thin"]

PRINCELET STREET

The location for the shoot was Princelet Street, one of the oldest streets in London. It actually makes you feel like you're walking through a piece of history with townhouses dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. As a lover of architecture you can't help but look up and admire the diversity of it all.

ootd princelet street shoreditch bailey nelson-52

The Museum of Immigration (a Grade II listed building) is also located on Princelet Street and tells the story of Jewish immigrants who fled persecution back home in France and, like many different nationalities to follow them, settled as immigrants in Spitalfields.

Since my eyesight is slowly catching up to all those late nights reading sci-fi books, Bailey Nelson were the first point of call for a new pair of specs. With stores all over London and a complementary eye test, Bailey Nelson were great at guiding me through their process and within a few days I received a text message telling me that my new glasses were ready to collect.

I paired up the glasses with my trusty Zara trenchie which I haven't had a chance to wear since my trip to Venice, some new kicks from Converse and a jumper from the new kid on the scene - Old Harry Knitwear. The jumper kept me warm and cosy as the weather in London at the moment is unfriendly to say the least and it's classic look and feel is something that many high street brands will find hard to replicate.

[separator type="thin"]

[/column]
[/columns_row]

In terms of accessories my trusty Marshall Headphones are still doing their job a year down the line and the backpack from Moleskine is as nice to touch as it is to look at. It's also designed specifically for digital devices so if like me you like to carry your cameras and laptops everywhere this purchase should be a no brainer. The sleek Ice City Leyton watch was ordered from Ice Watch and did not let me down once during LCM. It's neat brown design was a perfect accompaniment to the entire outfit.

LCM (London Collections: Men) is upon us yet again and after being a total recluse last year I was determined not to repeat the same mistake.
