Topman Tailoring // Lookbook 39

"The suit is a machine for living in, close-fitting but comfortable armour, constantly revised and reinvented to be, literally, well suited for modern daily life.” – Cally Blackman

As styles change on an almost weekly basis its nice to know that us guys always have a classic fall back option. A man will look his best in a well fitting suit so with this mindset I set out exploring Knightsbridge with my latest tailored piece from Topman.

Bench Original // Lookbook 38

One of my favourite areas to explore in London is Bank / City of London. City of London is actually a city and county within London itself so the name may be a little confusing. Regular readers may have already seen me cover City of London in one of our photo journals but the diversity of the area keeps me coming back.

Bench Lookbook

[separator type="thin"]

Bench is a British streetwear brand that was founded in Manchester in 1989 and has gone from strength to strength in recent years. They have their own stores all over the world including UK, Germany and Canada where they sell denim, trousers, sweats, hoodies, belts, bags and more. Keeping ears to the streets is a staple of any modern brand so when Bench partnered up with Brit Award winners, Rudimental to be the new faces of their Autumn/Winter 2016 campaign I was beyond excited.

'Baby' and 'Feel the Love' were some of my favourite tracks produced by British artists last year and it's great to see bands you've followed for a while go from strength to strength. Keeping up the streetwear aesthetic I picked out some items from their AW16 range (which you can grab below) and set out exploring Bank on a quiet Sunday morning.

Farah Menswear // Lookbook 37

There's a quote that basically says if you're feeling comfortable then you must not be taking any risks. Greatness begins outside your comfort zone which is why the time has come for me to start thinking about the next chapter for the DIVISION brand. I've been in London for 2 years and it has been an invaluable learning experience. I've met some truly amazing people, explored some unique nooks and crannies and spent way too much on cold coffee.

Before I leave London for good I want to share some lookbook and travel posts with you guys as I get ready for the next chapter of my journey. I don't know exactly where it'll lead but I do know it's going to be nothing less than exciting!

Farah Menswear

[separator type="thin"]

Farah is one of my favourite British menswear brands and their sleek and understated designs have been a staple of my wardrobe for the last few years. Remember the crisp oxford shirt I was rocking in my North / South Divide Lookbook? Well if white isn't your colour then the new slim fit shirt in burgundy can really spice up a look. With autumn just around the corner the harrington jacket is perfect for those windy days while it's light fabric means it can be mixed with other items in your wardrobe.

New Faces 03 // Journal 61

Reckon I'm going to become a hoarder in my older years as I can't seem to throw anything away. I feel that every photo and screenshot I take needs it's own special folder as it's bound to come in use eventually. What actually happens is that I live perpetually in the past, editing photos and videos taken many moons ago. What I decided is that August is going to be my 'clean out' month. You'll see lots of posts that may not reach my self imposed high standard but I need to clear some headspace.

Style Division New Faces

The latest 'New Faces' post went down a treat so I started looking through my drive to see what other snaps I've taken since then. A fair whack of them was basically me helping take some polaroids for Cesar at Unsigned so they're not the finished products but hey, gotta practice, practice, practice!

London Collections Men SS17 // The Shows

As much as I love snapping that perfect street style pic it's always nice to get some downtime. During LCM I managed to attend the Casely Hayford and KTZ runway shows as well as some great presentations from Belstaff and Barbour. You'd be surprised how much music at these events changes the atmosphere and I have to say KTZ got it spot on this year. Lichterschmaus by Pantha Du Prince was a personal favourite so make sure to follow my public playlists on Google Play if you like electronic / downtempo music.

BELSTAFF presentation

The Belstaff SS17 collection is inspired by the carefree attitude of the guys and girls from on and off the bike tracks and references not only the washed out colour palette of the film, but also key design details and colours from Belstaff's archive pieces from the era.

From the late 60s, motorcycle apparel brands began to experiment with new leather dyes and patterns. Riders were able to customise their racing leathers on the track, and this concept has been embraced in the new collection.

Rome & Bologna Street Style

Ever heard the expression, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do”? Well during my visit to Rome I managed to completely smash the lens on my trusty Fujifilm camera. Instead of getting upset I decided to do a small 'farewell' series to the old lady by taking some street style shots of the people I met during my travels. Some of the images were completely unsalvageable or overexposed but sometimes it doesn't matter if you still have the memories.

[separator type="thin"]

[separator type="thin"]

While outside the Colosseum I met two Italian girls who come to this spot every day to sharpen their illustrating skills and it reminded me of a chat I had with Phil Dean (aka The Shoreditch Sketcher) and the importance of cherishing the little details in life. As a side note, the Colosseum during sunset is pretty magical. Definitely one to tick off the bucket list.

[separator type="thin"]

[separator type="thin"]

I haven't done a street style series in a while so it was thrilling to get back into the swing of things. LCM is just around the corner so hit me up using the email below if you wish to link up. In the meantime I'm slowly getting used to the Sigma lens so expect plenty more street style posts in the future.

LCM SS17 Day 3 Street Style // Journal 56

As the batteries in my camera and my body were draining LCM Day 3 (View DAY 1 and DAY 2) provided little in way of street style. Rain dampened proceedings but the Meitu #FacesOfFashion team still managed to attend a number of runway shows and presentations. As a side note I've been experimenting with different filters and colour grades in my recent street style photos but hey, gotta practice, practice, practice!

LCM SS17 Day 2 Street Style // Journal 55

Meitu #FacesOfFashion took LCM by storm and now that the hectic weekend has passed I can finally sit down and look through the different styles everyone was rocking. As the late Bill Cunningham put it "fashion is always on the street" and there's no right way to dress so put on whatever makes you feel 110% and rock it with confidence. You're your own worst critic 🙂

Following up from LCM DAY 1 we continue our journey and aim to bring you the latest from behind the scenes of London Collections: Men with Oliver Proudlock, Andrew Cooper, Joey London, Eva Herzigova, Stephen James and Diego Barrueco.

LCM SS17 Day 1 Street Style // Journal 54

In the grand scheme of things London Collections Men is still in its infancy and yet it feels like it could give London Fashion Week a run for its money. A few weeks ago the talent and marketing agency Unsigned GRP partnered up with the Chinese app maker Meitu to bring the London vibe to its ever expanding platform.

We're becoming more and more engrossed in our phones so Meitu decided to create simple yet beautiful apps such as BeautyPlus and MakeupPlus which are sure to give Facetune a run for its money. They're also completely free so if you want to test out a look or improve your selfie look no further.

Make sure to follow the #tag on Twitter and Instagram to be the first in the know as the team over at Unsigned have some truly exciting projects up their sleeve. Until next time - Anton Dee.

Graduate Fashion Week 2016 Street Style

Oh to be young and naive again, when the world is welcoming to your crazy ideas and it feels like nothing can go wrong. With that mindset I set out into Shoreditch to grab some street style snaps during Graduate Fashion Week and see what kind of styles the new generation was rocking.
