Withings Activité Steel // Lookbook 30

Over the last few weeks I've been getting comfortable with my Activite Steel smartwatch from Withings as the ever growing presence of technology means we have to wear sensors all over our bodies. I did a small comparison of fitness trackers so if you're still undecided that post should give you some guidance.

The smartwatch is connected to the Withings Health Mate app that gives detailed sleep and activity analysis as well as achievements for beating personal high scores. The battery is supposed to last up to 8 months which takes the hassle out of the usual daily smartwatch charging.

The sleek watch comes in a variety of colours and interchangeable straps, has a 24/7 automatic activity tracker that counts things like running, swimming and sleeping. The silent vibrating alarm has also been a godsend.

Spring Has Sprung

spring in london

I always seem to do a lookbook when London changes colour and as with the John Lewis shoot when the streets were covered in red and orange leaves, this time we have pink petals reminding us of springtime. Most of us consider winter to be a cold and forgettable time of the year but as London becomes pink before your very eyes it's a stark reminder that it's our perceptions that change, not the seasons or the city.

A Stroll Through Covent Garden // Lookbook 29

It's easy to take London for granted and forget that a number of areas were really run down and derelict only a century or two ago. Covent Garden for example fell into disrepute in the 1600's as the area began to get filled up with taverns, theatres and brothels. Wits, poets and playwrights moved in and occupied the area and this is still seen today as street performers and artists regularly perform here.

By the 18th century Covent Garden had become a well-known red-light district so an Act of Parliament was drawn up to control the area, and Charles Fowler's neo-classical building was erected in 1830 to cover and help organise the market.

My love for burgundy hasn't subsided so breaking my own rules of colour www.healthandrecoveryinstitute.com/adderall-adhd/ matching I donned a burgundy hat, coat and socks and went exploring with Nathan from Man Meets Fashion. The jumper from Old Harry knitwear kept me cosy while the Ice Watch and Moleskine backpack have been a staple of my outfits for the last few months.

Style DVSN Collection 11

Happy March everyone! With Valentine's Day behind you don't forget that it's Mother's Day this month so saying thank you to the other love in your life should be top priority. It's been a busy few weeks for me as well, so if you don't have time to read through all the articles this inspiration collection should keep you up to date:

I finally made the plunge and upgraded from my Fujifilm XE-1 to a 'big boy' Canon 7D camera. With a 35mm Sigma lens on the way the visuals on Style Division should slowly change and become brighter and sharper. The new camera should allow me to do a lot more street style as well as travel photography so make sure to keep an eye out and if you have any Canon tips, send them my way.

Rome, Italy

I've been teasing out this post for so long now I've actually visited 2 other counties since Italy and yet I keep coming back to that magical little place. With my obsession with architecture escalating to a whole new level this year I feel that a history based post about Rome won't do the place justice. Watch this space as you never know when creative inspiration may strike and I pull an all nighter and finally get round to editing those photos.

Style Division Explores is a new series I've been putting together using photos from 2015 and so far I've written about Brighton, Kings Cross, Canary Wharf and Leeds in West Yorkshire.

These posts allow me to put thoughts to paper and showcase a little visual story about these locations. Watch out for many more Style Division explores posts in the coming months 🙂

London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week reaching a new level of hectic this year. With more and more photographers, models and designers packing the streets it was difficult to grab those unique shots we all crave.

On the flipside though it's always great to see some familiar faces on the street style circuit and see some of the finer outfits London has to offer. Hope to see you at the next LFW in September!

London Collections: Men

The disparity between London Fashion Week and London Collections is pretty noticeable but not in a negative way. As LCM is still in it's infancy things feel a lot less hectic and there's a greater variety of shows on offer.

On top of the shows I was also commissioned by Fucking Young mag to grab some street style shots with my new camera which you can see by following the link above.

Tower Bridge, London – Enveloped by Architecture // Lookbook 28

I recently acquired one of those daily calendars that teaches you new words and a word I keep coming back to this week is 'Flânerie'. The word 'Flânerie' describes the simple act of strolling while 'flâneur' describes a man who saunters around observing society. The next time you're feeling bored or restless, why not take a simple stroll, who knows what adventures you might find?

[separator type="thin"]

Enveloped by Architecture

This week my walks haven't taken me far as London's numerous nooks and crannies are probably infinite, yet when Tower Bridge is only down the road you kinda owe it to yourself. As I mentioned in a previous lookbook, Tower Bridge was mocked when it was first constructed with some people going as far as calling it pretentious and yet it stands the test of time.

The entire area is an architects wet dream with The Shard protruding from the distance and the Tower of London sitting proudly in the middle. You're surrounded by numerous historical landmarks such as the Tower Hill Memorial and All Hallows By The Tower Church or if you're after a little more solitude, the Saint Dunstan Church Garden is only a few minutes away.

It wouldn't be a Style Division post without an outfit update so as usual my Burberry scarf and Bailey Nelson specs were right by my side as well as the always elegant Daniel Wellington timepiece. The pea coat was purchased from Reiss a few months ago and I honestly wish you could feel it through the screen, the fabric is immaculate.

Guys of London Fashion Week AW16 Street Style // Photography Journal 38

Although London Fashion Week is predominantly a female affair, mens fashion trends can shine through. Most guys make an exception during fashion week as the ‘anything goes’ mentality is often encouraged so overly bright colours, crazy patterns and unusual accessories such as skateboards aren’t unusual. Here are some of my favourite snaps:

Girls of London Fashion Week AW16 Street Style // Photography Journal 37

It's that time of the year again and after heading out nice and early for LCM last month I thought I'd continue in that vein and continue this unnatural streak of motivation. London Fashion Week is a totally different animal in comparison to LCM and the outfits on view really show this. I'm actually becoming quite jealous of the combinations you girls can get away with 🙂

Brewer Street was again full of excitement and it was awesome to briefly catchup with a few street style photographers who I've got to know over the last couple of months. It really is a tireless art and I now have a newfound appreciation for anyone who does this for a living.

Farrell Clothing // Lookbook 27

Farrell Clothing has been featured on Style Division before in our Shoreditch and City of London lookbooks but yesterday was one of those rare days when sunshine filled the air and I the light conditions were nigh on perfect. Shooting with Themba Erik in West London, the location overlooked some historic Victorian townhouses and made me realise just how diverse this city is. If you like the look check out some similar items below and hype it up on Lookbook if you like 🙂

My Favourite Looks from 2015

To go alongside my 2015 Overview I thought I'd throw together a few of my favourite outfits that I had the pleasure of wearing last year. Depending on the day my style can go from super smart to super casual but it's always nice to have choices!

[separator type="thin"]

[column]

Taken on Tottenham Court Road, this was actually one of my first ever outfit posts.

I'm wearing one of the warmest Ted Baker coats I've ever owned and a Burberry scarf to boot although it seems that a year later the cold weather in London is still to get the hint that it's not welcome.

Adam from Male Stylist and I explored the London Embankment and it's surrounding areas for this post.

Wearing a custom made Ownonly suit and my trusty Ray Bans, this smart-casual look is really easy to pull off. Although a tailored suit does make a world of difference.

ASOS invited me to take part in a shoot for the 'As Seen On Me' campaign and I gladly accepted. Using Shoreditch as my backdrop, I shot two outfits that could not be more different from each other.

The first was a simple black/white lookbook while the second allowed me to wear my favourite plum colours and a trusty bobble hat.

An OOTD I've been dreaming of doing ever since I moved to London. I had an idea of doing lookbooks to a theme and 'Architectural Jawlines' did just that.

Pairing outfits with historic pieces of architecture allowed me to write about the area I'm shooting in as well as the outfit itself so there's something in the post for everyone.

Another one to add to the 'Architectural Jawlines' pile. This time I teamed up with the guys over at Farrell to shoot two lookbooks around the city.

With Tower Bridge and The Shard just around the corner I felt it would be interesting to explore the area and find out more about these iconic piece of British architecture.

Last but not least was my shoot for John Lewis with the supremely talented Joseph Kent from Unlimited by JK.

Although I blame this shoot for my continued obsession with trench coats, it was super fun to get out into the city nice and early and see it from a new perspective. Few crowds and carpets of orange leaves made this my favourite lookbook of 2015.

Shore Projects Watch // Lookbook 26

I have a soft spot for a nice watch, for guys it's an acceptable form of jewellery that comes in such a vast variety of styles, colours and sizes that there has to be a perfect piece out there for everyone. This week I'm showcasing my new Shore Projects watch with interchangeable straps and after careful browsing I decided on the Salcombe Rose Gold style and a dark brown leather strap.

[separator type="thin"]

[columns_row width="half"]
[column]

Shooting with another Style Division favourite - Joey London - we spent some time exploring Brick Lane and the watch was a perfect accompaniment to my winter ready outfit. The watches are made with stainless steel cases and have crystal sapphire glass, while the leather on the straps is of the finest quality sourced from Italy.

Shore Projects is inspired by the beauty and fun of the British seaside and having owned the watch for a few weeks now I've had no issues with it's build or simplicity. Because of the style I chose it goes perfectly with any outfit whether it's smart or casual and I'm looking forward to ordering some more straps should I wish to change things up a bit.

New Look Man Lookbook // Lookbook 25

Here's something I've been sitting on for way too long - my shoot with New Look Men back in the summer (check out that clean shaven face!) alongside Ben from Twenty First Century Gent and Adam from Male Stylist (aka the original Style Collective). The shoot was organised by Jodie from alajode and the pics were taken by the supremely talented Sarah Choa 🙂

[separator type="thin"]

[columns_row width="half"]
[column]

I opted for a light Grey Herringbone Slub Blazer which is a simple two button blazer that's easy to style, goes with a simple white shirt and some skinny trousers. I opted for the plaid pattern because life's too short to wear boring colours.
